We combine a reputation for uncompromising style with a genuinely warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Located right next to Edinburgh uni, we’re minutes from the Royal Mile and from the gorgeous Meadows, and we are right next to the unbelievably good Ting Thai Caravan.

We attract a diverse crowd of students, professionals, and lots of other lovely people. We truly think our salon has an authentic and genuine feel that will make you feel right at home in an instant – and a warmth you’ll cherish enough to make the same trek time and again. And if you need to catch up on some course work (or real work!) or just want to relax or enjoy a chat, you’ll be happy you found us. We want every minute to be the way you want it.

So, come down, visit our salon, listen to some great tunes, chat, have a drink, and get the fantastic hair you know you deserve. We have WiFi, proper coffee from a machine that makes loud gurgling noises, wine, beer and teas that don’t taste like dust.

Parking is best at Quartermile, and there are also a bazillion buses that pass within a minute or so of the salon.

Meet the Teviot Team

Fraser

In just three short years, Fraser has progressed from a senior stylist to salon director, a progression ably demonstrating his superb styling capabilities as well as the fantastic reputation he has built with clients.

Since joining medusa, Fraser has been able to build on his already deep expertise (15 years in the business) and take it to the next level. As a newly gilded member of the Wella Colour Master programme, Fraser has the skills to transform an everyday look into something opulent and perfectly tailored for you – as he often says “you don't have to go for an outrageous colour to make a statement.”

Fraser is most definitely a technical cutter at heart, having spent several years honing this skill before he moved to Medusa. Fraser especially enjoys short/sharp cuts to really see a style take on a life of its own.

Outside of hairdressing, Fraser is a bit of a movie and TV geek. No new Netflix series goes unwatched and he's always on hand with a good movie suggestion. He's also a bit handy in the kitchen able to knock-up a cracking chilli and frequently confounds others in the salon with his unique take on homemade lunches. He’ll even give you the recipe if you ask politely.

AMA (ask me anything)

A: Life without internet 100%. Coffee is a must, especially from Fortitude or steam punks coffee.

A: Slow Horses.

A: I'm a massive WWE fan.

Q: The first time I cut my mum's (or dad's) hair,…

A: I gave my mum a fringe by complete mistake. She wasn't happy. I mean, she really really wasn’t happy, but I learnt from it for sure.

(Yea, I dunno why, but I guess you might be reminded of that mistake maybe a couple of times in your life...)

Q: When I was five years old, I wanted to be a…..

A: Fireman, just like Sam

Q: Reveal your inner geek - Big Bang Theory or IT Crowd ?

IT Crowd. Moss is one of my favorite tv comedy characters.

Q: Whose hair would you love to cut ? (And why?)

A: Seth Rollin WWE wrestler. I think I could massively improve his image. I think he’s the kinda guy who would have some fantastic stories. I have a bit of a man crush on him, too.

Q: Gin or Jenga?

A: Gin for sure - Whitley Neill is my favorite with a little Fever Tree tonic.
