Colin McAndrew, Salon Director
Colin McAndrew has worked with Medusa Hairdressing for over 10 years and has recently taken over the company as Managing Director. His passion for hairdressing was realised in 1993 when he started in an Edinburgh salon as a junior and amazingly whizzed through his training in nine short months! Colin became a hugely popular stylist who was soon promoted and progressed into training and education.
Colin joined the Medusa Hairdressing team in 1998 as a Senior Stylist, bringing a large clientele to the already popular salon. Colin was immensely successful and was promoted to Director within a few years.
2002 saw Colin promoted to Creative Director within Medusa and he began to host training seminars across Scotland, as well visiting Romania and doing volunteer training to raise much needed funds for an orphanage. Only a short few years later Colin became a partner in Medusa Hairdressing and continued to do seminars, training and manage a busy column.
One of the highlights of Colin’s career to date is finalising for Scottish Hairdresser of the Year at the acclaimed British Hairdressing Awards.
Recent collections created by Colin and the Medusa art team have been extremely well received and have achieved a fantastic amount of coverage not only within the UK, but from Argentina to New Zealand. Colin believes that the biggest motivation for him within the salon is to watch junior members of the team qualify as hairdressers and to achieve their maximum potential – many of these once junior members are now part of the Medusa art team.
In 2007 Colin bought out his partners in Medusa and is thriving as MD of the salon group. With the focus on re-branding and moving the salons forward, Colin is busier than ever and has many exciting plans for the future.
